Ink and colours on paper, mounted as a hanging scroll, gilt metal mounts. Depicting one central Buddha on a lotus throne backed by two glowing halos, his robe partially flowing over the lotus petals, his hands in dhyana mudra, his eyes halfway closed with a serene expression and arched eyebrows. He is surrounded by 1000 Buddhas, covering the complete scroll. Amida Nyorai/Buddha Amitabha (The Buddha of Immeasurable Light and Life) is the principal Buddha in Pure Land Buddhism
